Cranberries, those vibrant, tart jewels of the fruit world, offer far more than just a burst of flavor. Packed with nutrients and antioxidants, these little berries boast a myriad of health benefits that can positively impact various aspects of your well-being. From heart health to digestive wellness and even cognitive function, cranberries have earned their reputation as a superfood.
What are cranberry health benefits?
It’s best to use fresh cranberries while they’re still in season. You can make jams, preserves, meat additives, sauces, and homemade remedies from them. After washing, you can freeze them and store them in the freezer (for up to a year) or dry them. It’s easy even in a regular oven. Wash the fruits, dry them thoroughly. Spread them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Dry at a temperature of 50 degrees Celsius for about 90 minutes with the oven door open. Stir the fruits with a wooden spoon every 20 minutes. Once cooled, put the cranberries in paper bags and store them in a dry place.
Cranberry juice for circulation
The flavonoids and anthocyanins contained in cranberries prevent heart disease by inhibiting clot formation and dilating blood vessels. Regular consumption of cranberry liqueur works like red wine recommended by cardiologists.
Recipe for heart-friendly liqueur
Put 1 kg of cranberries in the freezer for a day. Put them in a large jar, crush them, and pour in ½ vodka. Leave for two weeks. Pour the liquid into a bottle. Sprinkle the fruits with 2 cups of sugar and leave for 2-3 weeks. Strain and add to the bottle with juice. Leave in a dark place for a week. Drink 40 ml 3-4 times a week for 3 months.
Are cranberries good for ulcers?
Cranberries prevent the nesting of Helicobacter pylori bacteria, responsible for 70 percent of duodenal ulcers. Additionally, the fruits act as a probiotic, helping to rebuild the bacterial flora in the intestines, protecting against infections.
Infusion preventing ulcers
Pour a glass of boiling water over 2 tablespoons of dried cranberries. Cover and leave for 20-30 minutes. Drink the water and eat the fruits 2 hours after a meal. Use the treatment 1-2 times a day throughout October and November, and then from March to the end of May.
Cranberry for brain health
Cranberries contain many antioxidants, one of which is procyanidin. It prevents the aging of brain cells, protecting against dementia and allowing for longer retention of concentration and learning abilities.
Memory-enhancing tea
Put a teaspoon of green tea and a teaspoon of dried cranberries into a cup. Pour boiling water and let it steep for about 20 minutes. Strain and drink. Prepare the tea just before consumption. Drink it 3-4 times a week.
